Art Journal note
For this page I’ve used some scrapbook paper, and written out the key passages with some coloured pens. I cut a slot out in the centre of the scrapbook paper before I stuck it down, being careful to leave a gap behind without glue to create a pocket. Inside the pocket I’ve tucked away a little prayer I had written out, and attached a simple ribbon embellishment as a ‘handle’.
“Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Luke 24 v 32
I absolutely love this passage, it shows such deep relationship between Jesus and his disciples. Jesus knew they didn’t recognise him as they walked along the road, and I’m sure he was enjoying being able to talk with them openly, discussing the Scriptures together, just chatting and talking it all through together. Jesus was enjoying teaching them while they were completely unaware of who he was.
Jesus revealed himself to his disciples as he broke bread – the very act He had asked them to do in remembrance of Him. And they did remember Him, and recognised Him as their eyes were opened.
Isn’t it great that Jesus wants to walk along with us, and share our journey with us. And He longs to open the Scriptures to us.
Heavenly Father, is not my heart burning within me? Thank you that you love to walk with me and share this journey, and you enjoy teaching me new things in your Word. Help me to listen attentively, to ask You relevant questions, to seek You for truth, meaning and revelation, to increase my understanding and ‘to grow in knowledge and depth of insight’. And as I remember You, may my eyes be opened that I may recognise You.
In Jesus name, Amen.
